These are real graduates with real (awesome) jobs.

Jodi Whitworth, '12

Major: Electronic Media Communication

Career: Multimedia Journalist at Channel 13 News

Hometown: Des Moines, Iowa

Jodi Whitworth's reel caught the eye of a television producer, who was browsing YouTube to recruit young reporters for a new fall season pilot on one of Viacom's national networks. An e-mail exchange later, Jodi agreed to be the Twin Cities representative for the newscast, digging up local stories that will broadcast nationwide this fall.

Hold the phone, scholarship on line two

Apparently, Jodi's new beat wasn't excitement enough. On June 21, she was honored with a giant $2,000 check at the 2012 Diamond Awards as the Alliance of Women in Media's (AWM-MN) Diversity Scholarship winner.

AWM later told Jodi she was the only one to personally turn in her application and include a demo reel, making her an obvious choice from the crowd of applicants across Minnesota.

Success after graduation

Jodi is thankful for her time at Northwestern, "My major helped me to explore my creativity in writing. It built my confidence and I landed a TV reporting job at Channel 13 News. I am now a general assignment reporter reporting on daily news like crime, tragedies, politics and everything in between.

The great thing about Northwestern is that the teachers are more than teachers; they are mentors and friends, and they help with so much more than schoolwork. I'm so thankful!"

David Cazorla '05

Major: Broadcasting

Career: Producer, InTouch Ministries

Hometown: Canary Islands, Spain

Current Home: Atlanta, GA

Family: Wife: Melissa (Court '05); Children: Alexander (2), Eliana (born 10/27/13)

David Cazorla arrived at Northwestern to complete his final year of college after studying three years at the Center for Christian Communications in Ecuador. He immersed himself in college life, playing soccer and working student jobs for Northwestern's admissions and public relations  departments.

Following God into ministry

Cazorla's faith and career intersected right after graduation. Through Northwestern connections he found a job at the Christian Broadcasting Network in Virginia Beach, Virginia. "I jumped into Christian ministry, working in TV as an associate producer," he said. "God opened doors." But after 4 1/2 years that door closed due to cutbacks.

After applying for "a ton" of different jobs he got a call from a place he had not applied. The caller from In Touch Ministries in Atlanta asked if he might be interested in a job as a producer. "I started laughing," Cazorla recalled. "I said, ‘I've been praying for a job for the last three months.' I look back and see again how God opened doors. I was amazed."
